The Raider girls put their best foot forward Wednesday afternoon, shutting out conference rival Wallace-Rose Hill 6-0.
Coach Trey Apperson said he was pleased with his girls’ performance. “It’s starting to come together for us now,” the coach stressed. “We’ve got a lot of new players that we’ve brought onto the team, and we’ve got to learn each other, which we are doing. I’m seeing good, steady progress, and that’s what you want.”
Midway started off hot and played consistent soccer throughout both halves.
Hannah Hairr got things started just 4 minutes into the game when she put one into the back of the net. In the 9th minute, Regan Warren got the second goal of the game, assissted by Farrah Jackson.
Manasia Cobb got the Raiders’ 3rd goal in the 35th minute and then Jackson got her second goal of the afternoon, and Midway’s 4th, on a penalty kick.
Warren, this time with an assist by Jackson, scored the 5th goal at the 48-minute mark of the game and Olivia Davis hit the 6th goal just before the game ended.
Midway moves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
