Sampson Middle’s girls held on to their perfect season record Thursday night, handing Roseboro-Salemburg Middle a sound 40-5 defeat.

Dark Horse coach Jamie Harper said she was proud of the way her girls played, particularly the team effort they put forth.

“We played really good defense, with a lot of hustle. And, the girls spread the ball around. I’ve seen a lot of improvement in them from the beginning of the season til now. They were passing the ball, and making good shots.”

She particularly singled out top scorers Kiera Mabry and Mikayla Boykin for the number of assists they had in the game and the way they worked to get the ball to their teammates during the game.

Mabry scored 13 points on the afternoon; Boykin had 8.

“I was pleased with their performance. It was truly a team effort,” Harper stressed.

Also scoring for the middle school Horses were Edie Carr with 7 points; Charica Joyner, 4; Raven Johnson, 4; Reagan Barefoot, 2; and Kadaysha Dawson, 2.

Sampson’s record moves to 6-0. They host Union Monday.
