GOLDSBORO — Mrs. Shirley Evelyn Sugg, 69, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill.

Shirley was born in Sampson County on Oct. 11, 1943 to the late Marshall and Corena Brown Thornton. Shirley was a floral designer with Bryant’s Florist.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Sugg officiating. Interment will be private.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Frederick Sugg Jr.; daughters, Shirley Beth Naylor and husband, Tommie Lee of Clinton, Chasity Renee Rodriguez and husband, Ronald of Newton Grove, and Melissa Ann Taylor and husband, Gene of Goldsboro; sons, Carlton Eddie Barefoot and wife, Angie of Clinton, Dylan Christopher Sugg of Goldsboro, and Donald L. Sugg of Clayton; sisters, Melba Reason, Peggy Bryant, Donnie Killette, and Linda Parrish, all of Clinton; brother, Willie Thornton of Newton Grove; grandchildren, Elizabeth Brooke Stewart, Rodney Seth Stewart, and Kassidy Renee Rodriguez, Katilyn Renee Rodriguez, Lee Sugg, Kassidy Sugg, Alexis Taylor, Shaquan Taylor, Jasmine Taylor, and Kiera Taylor; grand-dogs, Rocky and Reesie; special pet, Angel; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Marshall (Tommy) Thornton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
