The varsity Crusaders fell to O’Neal Tuesday afternoon 58-45, despite a valiant effort.
In fact, the Crusaders were only down by 2 at the end of the first period, 12-10, and worked hard during the second not to get into a significant deficit by the half. Score at the break was 26-22, O’Neal.
But the visitors kept edging away, outscoring the Harrells boys 16 to 13 in the third period and adding another 16 in the final frame while holding the Crusaders to 10.
Graham DiPinto led scoring for the Crusaders with 15. He also pulled down 5 rebounds and had 2 steals in the game.
Also scoring during the game were Zack Carlton, 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal; Josh Driskill, 6 points, 7 rebounds; John Wesley Hairr, 6 points; Chris Cannady, 4 points; Patrick Walker, 2 points; and Hayden Parks, 1 point.
The loss moves the Crusader record to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play. They travel to Fayetteville Christian Friday.
