Two Clinton men are facing felony charges in New Hanover County this weekend, charged in connection with a fight that seriously injured one Wilmington man following a moonlight cruise at Carolina Beach.
Clinton police issued the New Hanover warrants late Thursday, charging Joshua Lamb and John Lee Wilson in connection with the April 27 incident.
Lamb, 32, of 630 Ferrell St., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was placed under a $75,000 bond and released through a bonding agency.
Wilson, 30, of 504 Ferrell St., was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury. He was given a $10,000 bond and released through a bonding agency.
A third arrest is expected.
Lamb and Wilson, along with a third unidentified suspect, are wanted in connection with a melee that broke out at Carolina Beach after two separate party celebrations ended on a sour note when members of both groups reportedly got into a fight after an apparent joke took a more serious turn.
According to information released by the Carolina Beach Police Department, two groups of people, including one from Clinton, had just departed a party boat in a marina off Carl Winner Drive when the fight broke out across the street.
Carolina Beach Police Detective Chris Larson told the StarNews Online that somebody was joking around saying they wanted to ride the Clinton group’s party bus — which they had apparently used to travel from Clinton to Carolina Beach — and a fight between dozens of people broke out, with individuals getting punched and being hit by bricks.
Four people, all from New Hanover County, were taken to the hospital for treatment, one of them in critical condition after being hit in the head by a brick and reportedly suffering a fractured skull.
Sources say alcohol was a likely factor in the incident.
