Rhodes Crossroads, 1784
Before the community of Clinton was ever formed, the nearest place with a name to its location was Rhodes Crossroads. It is said that there was a store there and perhaps a tavern where folks could refresh themselves or eat a bowl of stew. It’s also likely that they kept a fresh change of horses to hitch to the stagecoaches that stopped there.
