The business is located at 820 Elizabeth St. The gas company was started in 1938 by B. J. Williamson, Sr. as a reseller of LP gas and fuel oil. The company was run by Burl after his father’s death in 1964. At that time the business sold LP gas to tobacco farms which led Burl to become interested in growing ‘containerized’ tobacco plants.
