Civilian Dominique J. Woodard, son of Evelyn R. and Nicholas Woodard of Willard, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh. The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Academic honors
WCC recognizes local students Wayne Community College recently recognized two local students during Recognition Ceremonies. The students honored were: Lyndsey Dean who received an Honors Program Award for maintaining a GPA at or above 3.5; and Kalin Moore was recognized as a student ambassador for representing the college at special events and was nominated by the faculty and staff. Student, teacher team As a part of her senior project, North Duplin senior Beth Carter had Duplin teacher Michael Mozingo, who is from Sampson County give a speech to encourage students to ask for help. Beth is focusing her project on students asking for help with course work as well as everyday situations and Mozingo was a perfect match to give this speech. Currently she is trying to make appointments with some of the local Wayne and Duplin county schools to give speeches to some of the parents and teachers to offer advice on how to get students to ask for help.
