Barbara Taylor, the music instructor at Sampson Community College, featured a very special guest in her music class this week. Mark Gollady, guitarist and vocalist for the band Super Grit Cowboy Band, lead class earlier this week.

The Super Grit Cowboy Band, formed more than 40 years ago in North Carolina, added Golladay to the lineup in 1984. The band has had nearly half a dozen Top 100 Country hits since its formation.

Golladay’s visit came about as a result of having performed and recorded with Taylor in his Newton Grove-based recording studio, Circle Sound.

A native of Virginia, Golladay learned his first guitar chords at age 9. Living in Nashville for years, Golladay naturally became a professional musician. Since 1984, he has been involved with musical performance, sound recording/production, and instrument instruction in Sampson County.

Members of the Super Grit Cowboy Band have been linked to Shenandoah, Ronnie Milsap and Carolina Rain.
