Roseboro-Salemburg athletes celebrated

A day celebrating Roseboro-Salemburg Middle athletes concluded with an athletic field day in the gym and a trip to Penny’s Shaved Ice on Tuesday.


A day thanking Roseboro-Salemburg’s athletes would not have been possible without a dedicated staff, school officials said.


Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School honored its athletes and coaches with a morning breakfast in the cafeteria on Tuesday, June 7. An athletic awards ceremony followed for the athletes and parents at 9 a.m.

The day concluded with an athletic field day in the gym and a trip to Penny’s Shaved Ice. According to school officials, the day for the athletes could not have been possible without the help from the athletic director, administration, coaches, Sharon Sutton and the Roseboro-Salemburg cafeteria staff.

RSMS Athletic Director Stephen Faircloth said he felt the athletes deserved the field day to have fun and enjoy time with fellow athletes and coaches for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year.

Three-sport awards were given out to: Kiashleigh Wright, Jayden Sessoms, Isabella Dolin, Austin Campbell, Derrick Mitchell, Reid Jackson, Walter Chavez, Kori Jones, Selena Smith and Courtney Hines-Mozee.

Among the other athletes honored as part of the festivities were: Jamie Sessoms, Hunter Powell, Chase Honeycutt, Colby Beatty, Justin Mcgee, Cameron Shields, Colby Faircloth, Trent Tanner, Trey White, Cooper James, Jaquan Alexander, Steven Newman, Emily Hines, Luke Matthews, Aniyah Melvin, Carley Joas, Rilya Mitchell, Jaylin Burns, Zhymir Powell, Santana Madgar, Skylin Peterson and. Ja’Niaya Royal.

Additional honorees included Alexis Sessoms, Cameron Bracy, Sajavion Duff, Amber Gibson, Haley Wheeler, Evelyn Hairr, Chloe Hobbs, Kiashleigh Wright, Jayden Sessoms, Isabella Dolin, Brandon McKinnon, Julian Sandoval, Tyrek Henry, Kelijah McCain, Ollie Knowles, Elijah Lee, Isiah Gomes, Brandon Pope, Justin Thompson, Donovan Benitez, Marc Pariseau, Preston Peterson, Allen Melvin and Chancey Owens were among the athletes.
