Jerry “Tha Chef” Carr was originally slated to wrestle at Union Elementary School this Saturday, Aug. 6, but the venue has now changed to Lakewood High School, with proceeds for the special event to go to the Lakewood men’s basketball team.

“It is a last-minute change, but it will be great match to watch,” said the Sampson native. Tha Chef will take on the American GI in a Wild Card wrestling match.

Carr lived in Ivanhoe in Sampson County for the first 16 years of his life, moving to Clinton, where he joined the Job Corps. A few years later he moved to California where he learned to wrestle, which was his lifetime dream. On Saturday, he comes home to wrestle before his hometown crowd.

“I hope folks will come out and join us. I believe they will have a really good time,” noted Carr.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $5 for kids. Children under 6 get in free. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
