Hobbton knocks off North Duplin

Mackenzie Williams had another outstanding outing for the Hobbton volleyball team on Tuesday afternoon. He serves helped led the Cats to a win over North Duplin.


The Hobbton Wildcats won their seventh Carolina Conference volleyball match on Tuesday night, defeating the North Duplin Rebels 3-0. They would win easily 25-18, 25-19, and 25-16 behind the serving of Mackenzie Williams, who reeled off 10 consecutive points in the second set.

“Our net play was good tonight led by Nina DeVane and our setters also did an outstanding job,” said Coach Russell Jones.

The varsity team now holds an 11-6 overall record and a 7-4 record in the Carolina Conference.

The Hobbton junior varsity lost in three sets by a 2-1 score. Scores were 25-15, 18-25, and 15-12.

They were to play Lakewood on Wednesday due to the anticipated bad weather.
