The Lady Raiders of Midway Middle took on Union on Monday evening in hoops action. Taking advantage of an effective press in the first quarter and a solid defense for much of the game, the Lady Raiders forced numerous turnovers to build a lead they would never relinquish, cruising to the 50-16 victory.

Midway head coach, Selena Lee, expressed how proud she was of her teams effort in the win.

“The played really today. They hustled, they executed, they set their plays well. I’d say our biggest problem is free throw shooting. For the game we only made six out of twenty so I’d like to see us at least get that up to 50 percent,” Lee elaborated.

Midway was led by Rylie Williams with 11 points, five assists and two steals.

Kaitlyn Spell contributed eight points and seven rebounds, and Emma Clark and Miranda Holmes each had six points.

Sydney Williams, Kris’Shyia McKoy, Allison Belflowers, Maranda Byrd, Taylor Williams, and Talisha McNeill also all got into the score column.
