Dominating the Four County Conference, the Lady Dark Horses took the next win in their nine-game streak on Tuesday against the Heide Trask Lady Titans, 9-0.

Despite the quick offensive feet on the part of the Titans, the Lady Dark Horses prevailed. After the first goal at 45 seconds by Clinton midfielder Olivia Williford with an assist from forward Katey Yang, the Lady Dark Horses quickly took to controlling the tempo. Keeping the pace, Clinton ended the first half at 4-0.

The strategy of early scoring asserted itself once more. Knocking the Lady Titans off guard with a goal 55 seconds into the second half assisted by Taylor Spell, that final kick once more by Williford. Williford, a freshman into her first season on Clinton’s varsity, reached a personal best with a third goal just a minute later.

“We’re working on the practices and it’s starting to show and it’s starting to go,” said Clinton Coach Jeff Smith following the game. “That was as good as an attacking game as we’ve had.”

“We’re halfway through the season and have a better record than I expected,” the coach continued. “So, I really can’t be anything but pleased. It’s hard to bellyache at that.”

Heide Trask bumps down to 4-5 overall, their conference record dropping to 3-3. Their next match is an away conference game versus the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs Wednesday.

This win elevates Clinton’s record to 10-1-1, taking the Four County Conference streak to 6-0. Their next game, against the Pender Patriots, was moved from Friday to Wednesday at 6 p.m. It remains a home game.
