The Clinton Dark Horse tennis team secured both the regular season and tournament championships Wednesday at Clinton High School. The morning began with the Dark Horses playing East Bladen for the regular season title in a dual match rained out from Tuesday.

Clinton won the match 6-0, with Zach Darden, Turner Wells, Peter Darden, Cooper Brewen, Nick Brewen, and Trevor Leggett winning their singles matches. With this win, the Dark Horses will play in the NCHSAA State Dual Team playoffs beginning Tuesday against an opponent to be announced Monday.

The conference tournament was played thereafter where the Dark Horses won both singles and doubles titles.

Zach Darden won his third consecutive Four County Conference singles title with wins over East Bladen in the semifinals and West Bladen in the finals.

Peter Darden and Cooper Brewen won the doubles title over teammates Turner Wells and Nick Brewen. All five players qualified for the 2A Mideast Regional Tournament Friday in Goldsboro.
