Lakewood High School’s volleyball team won in three sets on Tuesday against Neuse Charter. The scores from the respected sets were, 25-12, 25-15, and 25-23.
Aleah Parker played a good game for the Lady Leopards, with 7 kills and 2 aces. NyAsia James added 6 kills for LHS and Morgan Bonnet and Courtney Mixon each had 5 kills. Alana Jackson had 17 assists, 7 aces, and 1 kill for Lakewod as well.
Lakewood’s head coach, Sheila Davidson was pleased with getting the win on Tuesday, but admitted that there was still work to be done. “Tonight was a good opportunity for our new players to get some varsity experience,” she said. “I saw some positives, but we need to play more consistent. We are getting closer to where we want to be, but there are still some things we can and need to improve on to really be where we want to be.”
The win gets the Lady Leopards above .500 again, now with a record of 5-4. They are currently in good shape in the conference standings, as they sit at 2-0.
Midway comes to town on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for an in-county tussle, and a rematch of a game from a few weeks ago at Midway, which Lakewood won, 3-1.
