The Hobbton Wildcats hosted the Rosewood Eagles in a soccer match on a muggy, hot Wednesday afternoon. It was the conference opener for Hobbton, and things didn’t go as they had planned, as the Eagles took a 5-2 win from the Wildcats.
Hobbton didn’t seem to have an answer for the fiery Rosewood offense, who led the Eagles to a relatively stress-free win.
Wildcat coach Jonathan Jacobs was not thrilled with the outcome of the game, but admitted that much of their problem still is lying with players being injured. “We are still battling injuries,” he said. “When we get some players back and get out of this slump we will be okay.”
Scoring for the Wildcats were Larry Favela and Cesar Castillo. Castillo scored on a penalty kick early in the game.
The Wildcats will host the Clinton Dark Horses Thursday afternoon at 6 p.m. The Wildcats are 1-5-1 on the season now. They drop to 0-1 in conference play.
