The Union Spartans are rolling. For the first time in three seasons, they have won 3 games in a row, and are 3-1 on the young season. Their most recent came at the expense of Princeton High School on Friday night, as they thumped the Bulldogs pretty good, by a final score of 33-0.

It was the usual play-makers finding the end-zone for Union on Friday. Nadir Goodwin, Jawawn Newkirk, and Shyquan Brunson all found pay dirt on Friday, en route to leading their team to their third victory in as many games.

Defensively, the Spartans were rock solid. Granted, they weren’t playing the Denver Broncos, but still, the Spartan defense was tough on Friday night, and would’ve given nearly any team they’ll play this season some issues.

The strong defense led to good field position, which led to good offense. The special teams were working well too, and everything seemed to be going right for Union.

“It was a good effort out there tonight, and it was a good win. It’s a great feeling to be in this spot, it’s been a while,” said Union assistant coach Josh Rackley following the victory.

“When all three parts of a football team are working together, and playing well on the same night, that’s a great thing to see, and fortunately for us, that’s what we got to see tonight. We are playing some good football, and their’s no single person or single facet of the game to single out. Everyone is playing as a team, and getting team efforts wins ball games.”

Stats were not available at press time for Union.

Union is now 3-1 and will host West Bladen next week for Homecoming. The game will also mark the conference opener for the Spartans, who are continuing to head into the right direction. The visiting Knights should provide a good test for the re-surging Spartans.
