Hurricane Joaquin and the ongoing heavy rainfall that accompanies the storm has already caused its fair share of postponements, notably local high school football games.

Lakewood at North Duplin was moved up to Thursday night, and will be the only county team to get their game in before the weekend.

Clinton has a big game against East Bladen, which has been rescheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Clinton High. Midway at Pender has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 6, as has Union at Trask and Hobbton versus Spring Creek. Both of those games are set to begin at 7 p.m. Monday.

All of the rescheduling is due to inclement weather from Joaquin. For more information on the games, and any changes to those times, check www.clintonnc.com, and follow Adam Capps (@ac4birdie) and The Sampson Independent (@SampsonInd) on Twitter.
