Lakewood’s volleyball team had a rough night on their Senior Night Tuesday evening in Salemburg. Lakewood was upset by Rosewood in the conference match, 4 sets to 1.

Rosewood got on the board early as they took the first set by a score of 25-21.

The Lady Eagles continued to pour it on in the second set, as they won the tightly contested set 25-23.

Lakewood finally was able to get a match to go their way, as they were able to make more plays with their backs up against the wall in the third set. They took that set, 25-21, thanks to strong play from Aleah Parker, Anna Heinz, and NyAsia James.

In the fourth, and what proved to be the last set, the Lady Eagles of Rosewood just seemed to be too much. They won the final set, 25-21, spoiling the Lakewood Senior Night.

Aleah Parker and NyAsia James each led the Lady Leopards in kills, as they had 10 kills each. Alana Jackson had another solid game for the Lakewood with 14 assists, and Anna Heinz continued a stellar senior campaign, as she racked up 37 digs and 5 aces.

Lakewood head coach Sheila Davidson was disappointed that the seniors had to lose the game, and admitted that it was indeed a rare occurrence for one of her teams.

“This was a tough senior night. I really cant remember the last time we ever lost on Senior Night, but Rosewood played hard and scored when it counted,” she attested. “We have to regroup and get ready to go to Princeton Thursday.”

Lakewood at Princeton on Thursday is set for a 6 p.m. start. JV is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
