The Hobbton Wildcats won their fourth straight game Monday night when they defeated Lakewood 4-1. After the score was tied for most of the first half, the Wildcats blew the game open in the second half to drop the Leopards for the second time this season.

Jonathan Gonzalez put the Leopards on the board first with their lone goal of the game. Shortly after, Christian Vega scored one of his two goals of the night to tie things up.

In the second half, Jose Herrera and Javier Sanchez each scored goals for Hobbton to help seal the deal.

“If you had told me at halftime that we would have lost 4-1 I would have told you you were insane,” said Lakewood’s head coach Jay Faircloth. “We were doing some really nice things in the first half, and it was like something drastically changed, and it wasn’t for the good.”

Wildcat coach Jonathan Jacobs was pleased with his team’s play. “We were really good when we started playing our style of soccer,” he said. “Since we have gotten healthy, things have been pretty good. Another win feels good, especially with it coming against a good, quality squad like Lakewood.”

Lakewood hosts their Senior Night on Tuesday, while Hobbton’s is set for Wednesday against Spring Creek.
