On Tuesday in their Lakewood defeated Rosewood in the second round of the Carolina 1A Conference Tournament in four sets.
The first set was tightly contested, but in the end, the Leopards took a 25-23 win. They then cruised in the next set, 25-15, before falling in the third, 13-25.
They got back on track in the next set, which proved to be the last one, as they won, 25-12.
Lakewood was led by Aleah Parker, who had 15 kills, 4 blocks, and 4 aces. Nyasia James added 10 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 aces, Alana Jackson had 19 assists and 2 aces, and Anna Heinz added 33 digs, 3 aces, and an assist.
Lakewood’s head coach, Sheila Davidson was proud of the way her team played on Tuesday, saying, “I am really proud of our girls tonight. They had a lot to prove to everyone, and they stepped up and did it. Rosewood is an extremely well coached team with some gifted athletes, but tonight our girls made a statement. I am really proud of Aleah Parker, she had a career night with 15 kills, 4 blocks and 4 aces. That is a great example of a senior stepping up when it really counted.
Lakewood will take on Princeton at 7 pm for the tournament championship on Wednesday.
