Pigskin Picks: Week 11

By Ryan Carter - Sports Writer

Hobbton running back Jason Scrivner gets the carry in a game earlier this year. Hobbton and North Duplin is our game of the week this week.

Last weeks picks resulted in a successful 4-0 record. Bringing the season total to 31-7. Clinton demolished West Balden, Midway came back from a scare against Trask, and Union defeated the Patriots of Pender. Hobbton was the only county team that lost last week, falling to James Kenan.

This week the Clinton Dark Horses travel to Rocky Point Friday on night to face the Trask Titans. Clinton is coming off of their third straight shutout against West Bladen. The Dark Horses look to have another big night against the 1-8 Titans. The Dark Horses should run away from the Titans early and the Clinton defense gets its fourth straight shutout.

Final Score: Clinton- 56 Trask- 0

Midway travels to face Four-County Conference opponent, West Bladen. Last week, Trask gave Midway a scare for a while, but the Raiders pulled away in the second half. If Midway allows the Knights to hang around, it could be an interesting game. Midway outscores West Bladen, pulling away in the end.

Final Score: Midway- 35 West Bladen- 21

Lakewood will host the Princeton Bulldogs on senior night. Princeton brings a three game win streak into Lakewood, but the Leopards will throw up a road block and make it tough for the Bulldogs to make it four in a row. Lakewood’s offense should have a big night, and the defense will put the brakes on the Bulldogs.

Final Score: Lakewood- 41 Princeton- 6

The Union Spartans will honor their seniors before kickoff against East Balden on Friday in Delway. Union will play good defense but find it tough to stop the talented Eagles. Union should keep it close for three quarters, but the Eagles will pull away in the fourth.

Final Score: Union- 14 East Balden- 28

In the Game of the Week, the Wildcats of Hobbton travel to North Duplin to face the Rebels. Both, the Wildcats and the Rebels, are equally hungry for a win. The Rebels have dropped four in a row while Hobbton has lost two straight and a win for either team would help improve their spirits. This one should be a very close game and probably will be decided by a turnover. Look for the team who takes care of the football and makes fewer mistakes, to win the game. This one is almost too close to call.

Final Score: Hobbton- 20 North Duplin- 21
