The Lady Spartans hosted Lakewood tonight in Leopard domination. The Lady Leopards took the game from the very beginning and kept by a score of, 62-37.

The Leopards jumped out on the Spartans early in the first quarter. Justina Henry scored 13 point to add to Lakewood’s lead. By the end of the quarter they had left the Lady Spartans 14 points behind by a score of 23-9.

Lakewood continued their strong play and pulled ahead even more in the second quarter. They increased their score by 17 points to lead, 42-17.

After the half, similar play was seen in both the third and fourth quarter. The third quarter ended with a score of 54-27. The Lady Leopards ended the game with the Spartans hanging on to their nice lead, 62-47.

Justina Henry who had 22 points followed by Briana Evans with 15 led the Leopards. Chanel McLellan contributed 9 points and Kiarye Bailey had 5.

The Lady Spartans were led by Destiny Robinson with 12 points. Faith McKoy had 8 points and Shamyra Hope had 5.

Lady Leopard head coach, Vonnie McNeil was happy with her team. “Once again it was a good victory for us as a whole team. We ran over our stuff smoothly tonight and we just jumped out on the Spartans and just got the win,” she said.

Union head coach, Bryant Register was a less pleased with his teams performance but had a good respect for how the Leopards played tonight. “The Leopards played good tonight. I’m just disappointed with our effort. We just have to come out and give more effort and intensity. We have a lot of work to do,” he stated.

Both teams will start their conference play now. Lakewood will host Spring Creek on Tuesday while the Lady Spartans host West Bladen.
