The Midway Middle School girls basketball team earned a 31-4 win over Hobbton’s girls on Monday night. Midway’s full-court pressure forced a lot of turnovers, leading them to easy baskets on the other end, and the Lady Wildcats had troubles getting the ball in-bounded on many possessions.
Midway was led by Caitlyn Holland, who scored 8 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 6 steals. Kayla Jackson added 5 and 2 steals for the Lady Raiders.
Hobbton’s points were scored by two players. K. Lee and J. Walks each scored 2 points in the loss.
Midway’s head coach, Selena Joseph was pleased with the way her team played defensively.
“A lot of our shots weren’t going in tonight,” she said, “our defense really stepped up and played good though. That was the difference in the game. Our defense won this one for us, no doubt about that.”
The Lady Wildcats are set to travel to Roseboro-Salemburg on Wednesday, while the Lady Raiders are set to welcome Sampson Middle School, in what should be an intense game.
