The Hobbton Lady Wildcats had a tough time with the Spring Creek Lady Gators Thursday night. After a fairly even 1st half, the Gators took control of the game and came a way with a 72-58 win.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter before Spring Creek started hitting shots. The Wildcats still held a 13-12 advantage after the 1st quarter of play. In the 2nd quarter, the score was tied at 15 and 17 before the Lady Gators started pulling away with a 7-0 run to go up 24-17. They finished the half with a 35-23 margin. They continued to increase that lead in the 3rd quarter finishing with a 53-37 lead. The Wildcats were hustling the fourth quarter scoring 21 points; however, Spring Creek had an insurmountable lead finishing 14-point advantage, 72-58.

Wildcat coach Leonard Henry said, “We don’t have a lot of bodies on the team to work with. It was a great job tonight against Spring Creek. The effort was there, we just couldn’t execute. So, we just have to go back to the drawing board and get ready for Union in the Christmas Tournament Monday.”

For the Wildcats, Nina Devone lead all scoring with 39 points. Denise Lamb added 11. Amber Buchan led the Gator effort with 30 points while Destiny Sutton had 21 points for the Gators.

The Wildcats are now 0-2 in conference play.
