The Lakewood Lady Leopards won an ugly basketball game on Tuesday night on their home court. In a game in which neither team could find their groove offensively, the Lady Leopards were able to come away with a 39-28 win.

Emotions were high on and off the floor as players and fans were all getting upset about officiating, and trash talk from each other. Multiple technical fouls were called in the final quarter, but didn’t effect the outcome of the game, as the Lady Leps won by an 11 point margin.

“Our defense was really solid, and it was a really intense game,” said Lakewood’s head coach Vonnie McNeil. “We are still struggling with our offense, but the defense kind of bailed us out. It is a good win and we will definitely take it.”

Lakewood was led offensively by Briana Evans’ 10 points and Justina Henry’s 9. India Dixon and Chanel McClellan each had 6 points to add to the Lady Leopard total.

Lakewood is now 13-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Their last regular season game is set for next Tuesday at Princeton. They are currently in second place, and it looks like that is how they’ll end up for the Carolina 1A Conference Tournament. Tip time at Princeton is set for 6 p.m. next week, as the Lady Leopards look to finish their season off strong.
