The Hobbton Wildcats, in their “Pink Game” gutted out a 2-point win over visiting North Duplin Tuesday night. The final was 48-46, Hobbton.

North Duplin jumped out to a 7-2 lead on the Wildcats in the first part of the first quarter. Hobbton cut the Rebel lead to 1 at 7-6 midway the quarter. By the end of the quarter, the Wildcats had cut the margin to 3 at 9-6. The Wildcats continued to trail in the second quarter with North Duplin taking a 7 point lead into the half time break. However, the Wildcats did the the game at 11 with just over 5 minutes left in the second. In the third, the Wildcats kept it close at 37-33, Rebels. In the fourth quarter, the teams traded the lead for a time. North Duplin would be up by 1; the Wildcats would go up by 1. With 21.3 seconds left in the game, the score was ties at 45. Hobbton got the front end of a 1 and 1 to go up 46-45. On the other end, Shaily McCarty was at the line for North Duplin. She got the front end of a 1 and 1 tying the game at 46 with about 9 seconds left. Shay Bell was fouled and got both shots to put the Wildcats up 48-46. The Rebels were unable to get a shot as the clock ran out.

For the Wildcats, Nina Devone led with 21 points. Shay bell had 11 and Sabrina Fussell had 8.

The Wildcats finish their season at Lakewood Friday night.
