Clinton’s Brielle Mitchell scored 22 points to lead the Lady Dark Horses past the visiting Trask Titans on Senior Night in Clinton. Clinton won the game by a final of 61-41, in a game that was never in doubt.
Clinton jumped out to a 17-7 lead, then extended that to 39-17 at the break. They led 47-29 after 3 quarters, before finally closing out the Lady Titans by 20 points.
Alex Canady added 10 points for Clinton on the night, and Zoey Harris chipped in 6. Charica Joyner scored 4, and Alana Capps added 2 points for the Lady Dark Horses as well.
“I thought it was a really good conference win,” said Clinton’s head coach, Chris Owens. “Any conference win is one we will definitely be pleased with, and it was nice to get one on Senior Night for our girls that have put a lot into this program.”
The win improves Clinton’s record now to 19-4 overall, and 11-2 in the Four County Conference. Both of those losses came to East Bladen, who is undefeated in conference play and clinched the conference title. Clinton has locked up a second place finish, and will be the two seed in the tournament for the conference, which begins next Monday.
Though it will be insignificant to the final tournament seedings, Clinton will take on Wallace at Wallace for a game that could definitely help them get a better bid in the state playoff bracket.
The game is set for a 6 p.m. start on Thursday night.
