Nicholas Bryant goes up against Lakewood’s J. Cooper for 2 points in Hobbton 74-38 win over Lakewood Thursday night.

The Hobbton Wildcats’ men’s team dominated Lakewood Thursday night at Lakewood. The final score was 74-38, Hobbton.

The first minute or so of the game was pretty even. Then Hobbton started hitting shots and preventing Lakewood from getting those shots. The score after the first quarter was 20-12, Hobbton. In the second quarter, Hobbton out scored Lakewood 14 to 4 to take a commanding lead at 34-16. Lakewood kept fighting; but, never could seem to get their rhythm. After 3 quarters, Hobbton had a 48-29 lead. In the final frame, Hobbton outscored Lakewood 26 to 9 for the win.

The Wildcat’s Collin King led the scoring with 29 points. He was hitting from all over the court. Jonathan Wright added 12, Nicholas Bryant had 8 and Hunter Britt had 7. For Lakewood, J. Owens had 11.

“I didn’t know how my guys would come out and respond. Practice wasn’t that good yesterday. We came over here with 8 players. We pressured Lakewood some and tried to play up-tempo. Hat’s off to Collin King. He came out shooting the basketball tonight and my motto right now is: you’re going to play as long as your want to,” said Hobbton coach Alphonso Hooper. “Hat’s off the Coach Pittman. To start with they bothered us some. I told the guys to keep attacking. I didn’t realize we had that big of a margin until I look at the scoreboard. Our guys just kept attacking. We played real good defense. We took their shooters out of the game. J. Owens hit some big 3’s for them. They just didn’t shoot well tonight. The bad part is we turn around and play them again Tuesday in the first round. I just hope my guys have something left to play them again with,” concluded Hooper.

The two will meet again Tuesday in the first round at a TBD location.
