Midway’s JJ Sankey drives and scores against Lakewood defenders in a game from this season.

The girls basketball playoff brackets were set this weekend, and it featured 2 local teams getting home games and 3 of them getting playoff bids. Lakewood and Clinton will play home playoff games on Tuesday night, while Midway will take a long road trip.

Starting with the Lady Raiders, they will take a trip down I-40 to T.W. Andrews High School in High Point. Andrews is the 7th seeded team in the East Region while Midway is the 26th. Coming in at 13-9, the Lady Raiders will need to be firing on all cylinders to advance and take down the 18-4 Red Raiders.

Clinton is set to host North Johnston in round 1, and should have what it takes to move on. The match-up features the 11th seeded Lady Dark Horses and the 22nd seeded Lady Panthers from North Johnston. Clinton’s guard play and pressure will be too much for North Johnston, and Clinton should be able to make it into the weekend for a second round game.

Another team set to play at home is the Lakewood Lady Leopards. Lakewood, in the 1A bracket, is the 10 seed in the East. They are set to take on Neuse Charter, the 23 seed, a team that they have already taken down a couple of times this season in conference play. They should have no trouble doing it again, and should be able to cruise into the second round as well.

All girls games are set to tip off at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. For more information on the seedings and playoff brackets, head over to nchsaa.org.
