The Lady Spartans welcomed the Lady Wildcats onto the softball field on Monday night. The game was cut short to four innings, as the Lady Wildcats were able to take a big win over the Spartans, 21-4.

The Lady Wildcats got a huge jump out in the first inning as the Lady Spartans were just unable to play sound defense. Hobbton scored 11 runs before getting three outs. The Lady Wildcats then held Union to only two runs making it 11-2.

The Lady Wildcats slowed the momentum down but still added 3 more runs in the second inning with the Lady Spartans only adding on 1. The third inning went nearly the same way. Hobbton got 1 more player around the diamond, while the Spartans were quickly sat down.

Hobbton picked up the pace more in the fourth inning, as they to brought the game to an end with 6 more runs. The Lady Spartans were able to score one more run before the game was called.

Lady Spartan, head coach, Doug Burley said of his team; “We have a lot of work to do but I do see some improvements in the team.”

Hobbton’s head coach, Katie Hall, saw good things, and things that needed improvement in her team. “It took us awhile to get our bats going and they really came alive in the fourth inning just in time. I’d like to commend Makenzie Williams on the mound. She pitched four great innings. Also, Hollie Leftwich had a big hit in the fourth inning.”

The Lady Spartans travel to Lakewood on Tuesday to face the Lady Leopards. The Lady Wildcats will be back in action Wednesday, when they visit South Johnston.
