The Lava volleyball organization continues to play well in the Carolina Region. This past weekend, the 13U purple, 16U purple, 16U white and 18U all won silver medals in their respective divisions.

The 13U white team had a strong run, as they swept pool play to advance to the semi-finals before being taken out.

“This is a very exciting season for Lava,” said Lava’s Dan Heinz. “We have had our highest levels of success club wide. We have also been recognized for great sportsmanship and hard work. Our 13 white was recognized by the lead officiating crew for their outstanding effort and spirit as well as great play.”

The 12U team competed in Division I (formerly called the Gold Division) and defeated the high-powered Triangle Blue National Team.

Heinz went on to praise the parents of Lava players for their support.

“Our parents are so supportive of the girls and the teams,” he said. “It takes an extraordinary effort from parents to get girls to practices and tournaments and keep up with all of their school work too. Most of our girls are involved in school sports as well as are honor students.”

The 16U purple team is heading to Spartanburg for the Southern Classic Power Tournament this weekend. This tournament features some of the strongest teams in five states, so the local volleyball squad will see stout competition.
