The Hobbton Lady Wildcats let one slip away in non-conference action on Monday afternoon when they took on the Cougars from Goldsboro.

The box score told the story, as the Lady Wildcats had six less hist and five more errors that the Cougars.

Hobbton jumped out early and scored a pair of runs in the first inning, and hoped they had set the tone for the remainder of the game. However, Goldsboro bounced back to score 4 runs in the top of the second inning, and never looked back.

After Goldsboro went up 6-2 in the top of the fourth, the Lady Wildcats showed some life as they scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to close the deficit back down to 2 runs.

Hobbton closed the game to 6-5 in the fifth, but Goldsboro went on to score 3 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th, and closed the game out with a 10-5 win, giving them their first win of the year.

Hobbton is not back in action until after the Easter break. They will take on James Kenan on April 5 at 6 p.m. The game will be at James Kenan.
