The Lady Raider soccer team welcomed the Wallace-Rose Hill Lady Bulldogs into Spivey’s Corner on Tuesday evening. Midway continued building on its solid season, cashing in on a strong performance by Manasia Cobb to storm past the Lady Bulldogs, 7-0.

For a majority of the first half, the game seemed locked in a defensive battle, as neither team had scored through the first nineteen minutes.

The Lady Raiders then exploded for four unanswered goals to end the half.

Manasia Cobb got things started with 20:36 left in the first half, scoring a goal to give Midway the 1-0 lead.

Kasey McLamb contributed a goal with 16:21 left in the first half, increasing Midway’s lead to 2-0.

Just a couple of minutes later, Addison Apperson cracked the score sheet, pushing Midway’s lead to 3-0 with 13:28 left in the first half.

Midway’s final goal of the first half came with 4:43 left as Manasia Cobb secured her second goal of the game.

Following the break, the Lady Raiders scored a couple quick goals to start the second half. Midway’s lead was at 6-0 following goals by Emily Williams with 36:06 left and Manasia Cobb, her third goal, with 35:04 left.

Midway’s final goal once again came off the foot of Manasia Cobb with 20:21 left, achieving the game’s final tally of 7-0.

Midway head coach Trey Apperson was pleased with his team’s effort, “This was another game where we got solid contributions and a great effort from every player on the team”, he said.

With the win, Midway is now 11-5 overall and 7-4 in the Four County Conference.

Midway is back in action this Friday when they travel to Trask. That game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
