The Hobbton Middle Lady Wildcats, a spring season Cinderella team, took out league-leading Midway twice in the final week of play and cruised to a 21-4 win over Sampson Middle in the middle school softball tournament at Midway Tuesday afternoon.
Coach Pat Bowden was justifiably proud of her team’s late season surge to capture the league win on the strength of her pitcher, Kameron Lee, who will be moving to the high school next year. Bowden said, “Kameron carried us for a lot of the season. She also carried us quite a bit last year as a 7th grader. The defense played a great game backing up Kameron.”
Lee had four strikeouts in the championship game while allowing only four runs. Kassidy Rodriquez was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. JaLo Wilkes was 4-for-5 with four runs scored. Lee was 5-for-5 with four runs scored. Eldridge was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. M. Darden was 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Anna K. Meyer was 1-for-4 with one run. Anna Sutton was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
