Midway’s baseball team jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through the first inning and never looked back in their five inning, 10-0 rout of East Bladen in Spivey’s Corner on Tuesday.

It was Ryan Lee getting the win for Midway. The senior righty went 3 full, striking out 3 and allowing 2 hits for no runs. Dylan Hardison pitched an inning of relief, allowing 2 hits and no runs while striking out 2. Cameron Godwin closed the game out with an inning of 0 runs while allowing a hit, walk, and striking out 1.

Matt Barefoot had a triple in a 2-3 day at the dish, getting back on track at the plate. He had struggled in the past two games. Tyler Pope was 1-1 with a double, Trey Wood was 1-3, Wesley Johnson was 1-1 and Jake Clark went 1-3 with a double.

“It was a good win for us. We are continuing to play good ball,” said Midway’s head coach Jason Fussell. “We were able to work three pitchers tonight and get them some reps, so that’s always a good thing to be able to do. It was a good game all around for us,” he finished.

Midway is now 12-2 on the season and 7-1 in conference play to keep pace with Clinton atop the conference standings. Midway is set to play a double header on Friday, starting at 6 p.m. against Pender, at home. The games will each be shortened to just five innings.
