Youth across Sampson County are getting geared up for the first show of the Farm Credit Circuit, held at the Sampson County Livestock Facility on Aug. 27.

The Prestage Youth Livestock Round Up will start at 8 a.m. with the goats, followed by lambs and heifers. This is the 15th consecutive year that Prestage Farms has sponsored this event. Thanks to their donation, each child, regardless if they place first or last, will receive premium money, Extension officials said.

An addition to the event this year will be a display from the Hippity Hop 4-H Rabbit Club. Thanks to club leader Rob Richardson, this group has been very active over the past year and several champion rabbits and showman will be presenting their projects.

Reserve and Grand Champions from each species will receive embroidered banners donated from Cape Fear Farm Credit, Clinton Truck and Tractor, and Farm Bureau. Champions from each showmanship age division will also receive an engraved picture frame.

The public is invited to come and watch this free event.

A concession stand will be available the day of the event.

For more information about the show or how to get involved with the Sampson County 4-H Program, call the Extension Office at 910-592-7161.
