The members of Roseboro United Methodist Church are hoping to capture the attention of residents and others looking for a bargain. That’s right! Roseboro United Methodist Church is holding its yard sale for the 31st year, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 10.

Tommie Wrench, co-chairwoman for the yard sale, explained, “This is our way to raise money to help maintain our church.”

Whether the building requires a new coat of paint or a faucet needs repairing, the funds from the yard sale are the first to help make sure that the building is well kept throughout the many seasons of the year.

In addition to helping maintain the church, yard sale goers will get the opportunity to buy some valuable merchandise, including furniture, appliances and other goods. Also, the church’s bazaar will be a great resource for parents seeking some clothes for themselves and for their children just beginning the school year.

Barbara Mathews, co-chairwoman of the yard sale, explained that almost anyone throughout Sampson County and beyond can find a good deal at the yard sale.

“This is for everyone in the community; we have had over 1,000 people out here,” Mathews noted.

If shopping is not on the agenda for Saturday, Sept. 10, some may want to come by and get a bite to eat at the bazaar. According to Mathews, sausage biscuits and hot dogs will be available for purchase at the yard sale. If sausage biscuits and hot dogs do not whet one’s appetite, maybe a few of the baked goods will be just the ticket. Matthews explained that a number of baked goods will be for sale including cakes, cookies and home-made jellies and jams.

Once the yard sale is complete, Mathews explained that anything left over will be donated to local charities in the area including Beatitude House, the Sampson Crisis Center and U Care.

The yard sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church courtyard, located at 300 Broad St. For more information, please contact Katie Holland at the church office at 525-4470 or click onto www.roseboroumc.com.
