Prestage Farms sponsored the 15th annual Youth Livestock Round Up at the end of August. Despite having to be postponed a day due to hurricane Irene, youth brought over 70 goats, lambs and heifers to compete. Sampson County is part of the Farm Credit Show Circuit, which tallies points for showmanship classes throughout the fall show season. A champion from each age division will be named right before the N.C. State Fair competition. An addition to the show this year was the exhibition of rabbits from the Hippity Hop Rabbit Club. Pictured, above, from left, are: 4-H cloverbuds Shane Kendall, Hunter Mercer, Will Mercer and Chasen Matthis. If you would like more information on how you can get involved with 4-H activities call the Sampson County 4-H Office at 910-592-7161.
