In John 8:29 Jesus says “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”
Do you seek to please God or man? Whose approval do you desire to have the most God’s or men? Jesus makes it plain and clear that he wants to please the Father in all things. How many times do we seek to please man, but yet will not check to see if God is pleased in the matter?
Just because man approves of something we do does not mean God approves of it. In fact, this is what God says in Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”
We have all been guilty of taking man’s approval and believing that we have done a great job when God could be upset at how it misrepresented him. So many decisions in our lives have been made by how we feel, and how others feel about it, even other opinions have influenced us to rush God’s blessings for our lives.
Jesus was so in tune with pleasing the Father that no matter how others felt he stayed focus. Every day of our lives, we should be aiming to please God in everything regardless if man accepts it or not. Jesus even says in the verse that “the father hath not left me alone.” When pleasing God “in all things” is your goal each day, you may have to stand alone, because everyone else is trying to please man, God will be right there with you. Be honest with yourself on this matter, you have desired more to please man than God? Outwardly you may have said you wanted to please God but inwardly you wanted man’s approval.
Be honest about if you have taken the advice and opinions from man and have not thought about what God wants out of the matter. Yes it pleased your “Flesh” which could be the reason why so many Christians are miserable. God wants your “Spirit” to be pleased which brings his peace, his joy, and his blessings.
Saints of God, search your hearts and be honest with yourselves about who you have been trying to please. Jesus tells us that if we aim to please the father and him alone, regardless of what man has to say, God will bless us in a special way.
