John 14:5,6 says “Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
As Jesus said to his disciples so I believe he is saying to us today: he is “The Way , The Truth and the Life.” Have you ever said these words before about God, that “he is a miracle worker” or that he is “a way maker.” We have all been guilty of saying these things towards the Lord Jesus Christ.
I have come this week to share with you and maybe renew your speech and minds about our Lord. I want you to know that we serve “The true and living God” not just “a God.” He is not just “a healer” he is “The Healer”, he is not just “a way” but he is “The Way.”
It’s amazing how one word can change the outlook of a person. When we say the word “A” it puts God in with other Gods or it makes him equal to them. I have been just as guilty of talking about our God and using the word “A” in reference to him.
But Jesus makes it plain to Thomas as he would like to make it plain to you and I — He is “The Way” not “A way;” that he is “The Truth” not “A Truth;” that he is “The Life” not “A Life.”
Saints of God, let’s start speaking the truth about The God we serve. In your study time in your Bible find out where God said these words “I am,” and see the next two words after he says this. Saints I want you to know that Jesus is “The Savior” not just “a savior.”
May the Holy Spirit help you and I change our speech and thinking about “The God” we serve.
