Clinton Police arrived at a local business Tuesday evening searching for a man believed to be suicidal and carrying a knife. The call brought three police cruisers to the scene, but the suspect could not be found and everything seemed in order at the business.
According to Assistant Chief Jay Tilley, the policy units responded to the ‘suicidal person with a knife’ call that was placed around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday from an unidentified person at the Walmart Super Center, located at 1415 Sunset Ave. in Clinton.
The man, who was not identified, was not immediately located at the store after a search of the premises.
“Officers arrived, searched the area and could not find the man,” Tilley explained Wednesday. A short time later, Tilley noted, the man was found at a different location.
“We checked on him, he was OK and not suicidal,” Tilley explained. “He required no other attention.”
No arrests were made in the case.
It was not known who called in the report, but officers said it seemed unlikely that the man was carrying a knife or posed any threat to anyone in the store.
