The Simple Gifts Fund is currently in the middle of the Facebook “LIKE” competition.

As of Monday, Clinton High School has the most “Likes” and Hobbton and Lakewood have not had anyone like Simple Gifts Fund yet. Get busy and have all your friends “Like” Simple Gifts and win $400 for your high school!

If you do not have a high school affiliation listed on your “about” section on Facebook, send us a message via Facebook with your school to get a point for your high school. The competition runs until the end of September. Our current Simple Gifts Scholars have posted updates on their college life for all our residents to read, but there is so much more on our Facebook page.

As Sampson County high school seniors are starting the college application process, the Simple Gifts Fund has started offering links on our Facebook page to help in the college process. There are links to rankings from Forbes, Newsweek, Princeton Review, Washington Monthly, Her Campus and Unigo. All the rankings use different methodologies, so it is important to understand how a ranking is done.

The Simple Gifts Facebook page has a link to the NCAA 2012-13 Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete. Dates and times for different southeastern county college fairs administered by Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers can be found too. There are also links to articles and sites to help in the college search process.

One great link is Unigo.com. It truly is a go-to resource for high school students and parents looking for exciting up-to-date information about America’s colleges. Unigo features thousands of interactive college reviews created by the real experts – current college students. Unigo’s college reviews were described by The New York Times Magazine as “…so evocative they make the one-page U.S. News summaries read like junk mail … they are vivid in a way no guidebook can match.”

In our next article important factors regarding college costs such as net price calculator, FAFSA, CSS PROFILE and Demonstrated Need.
