SANFORD — Mrs. Vera Hall Sloan, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Harnett County on Aug. 13, 1922 to the late Alvy Lester Hall and Effie Bennett Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Quint Sloan; son, William “Billy” Kenneth Sloan; brothers Max Hall, Gray Hall, Royce Hall, Carl Hall, J.W. Hall; sisters, Rena Tillman, Clara Cole, Edith Flynn; and one grandchild, Alan Kendrick Sloan. Mrs. Sloan was a member of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one son, Tommy Hall Sloan and wife, June of Dunn; two sisters, Mary Wall of Cameron, Shirley Ann Hall of Sanford; two grandchildren, Brad Sloan, Barrett Sloan; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Sloan and Carson Sloan; and two special friends Yvonne Pittman and Ruth Lerche, both of Sanford.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Miller and the Rev. Kathryn Dudley presiding. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour in the church fellowship hall.
