A 27-year-old Autryville man is facing a felony drug charge after crack cocaine was found inside a vehicle he was reportedly driving.
Truman Monk, 27, of 693 Cornith Church Road, was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine after his arrest Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the drugs were discovered four days after Monk’s vehicle was reportedly repossessed by a local car company. When officials from the company began clearing out the vehicle, five crack cocaine rocks were discovered hidden in the vehicle and law enforcement was called to investigate.
After a probe, warrants were issued for Monk’s arrest. He was taken into custody without incident at his home Tuesday around 2:15 p.m. and taken to the Sampson County Detention Center.
In addition to the drug charge, Monk is facing a failure to comply. He was placed under a $5,289 bond. His first court appearance will be Oct. 12.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Monk has previous convictions dating back to May 2006. Those convictions include assault on a female and injury to personal property (both from May 2006); and driver’s license permanently revoked (December 2007).
