A one vehicle crash that took place late Saturday night sent a 22-year-old Clinton man to the emergency room, suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
Carlos Mendoza, 22, of East Powell St., Clinton, was traveling east on Five Bridge Road in a 2003 Ford pickup truck Saturday night around 10:30 when his vehicle ran off the road, collided with a ditch and rolled over once.
His estimated speed at the point of impact was 55 mph., according to N.C. Highway Patrol reports.
Emergency officials responded to the scene and discovered that Mendoza could not be pulled from the vehicle. Eventually, he had to be cut out of the vehicle and sent to Sampson Regional Medical Center, where he was believed to be in fair condition Monday. A hospital spokesperson did not immediately return calls to confirm the report.
Traffic, which was limited, was re-routed for about 35 minutes until the scene was cleaned and cleared.
Mendoza was charged by troopers with having no operator’s license and failure to maintain lane control.
