Starting the night off recognizing their seniors, the Horses took on the South Lenoir Blue Devils, beating them soundly, 35-3 Friday night.
With energy and confidence, the Dark Horses begin their night with skill. Halfway into the first quarter, Spencer Jacobs sent the Horses towards the end zone with a large run. Though Jacobs was stopped, Demontio Bryant got in two plays later. With Justin Parker on the kick, Clintons score would rise up to 7-0.
Five minutes later, Tykearion Stevens cruised through the South Lenoir defense, scoring his first touchdown of the night, putting Clinton up to 14-0.
Beginning the second quarter, the Horses continued to trample through the Blue Devil defense. With 7:32 minutes left of the first half, Bryant scored another touchdown, putting Clinton in control, up by 21 points.
Clinton’s defense, led by Owen Hunt, held the Blue Devils at bay. Protected by their defense, Silas Herring and Tykearion Stevens continued Clinton’s onslaught putting the Horses closer to the end zone. With a pass thrown by Greg Smith, Bryant scored his third touchdown of the night, lifting Clinton 28-0.
South Lenoir senior Will Graves finally put the Blue Devils on the board with a 3-point field goal kick with 4:15 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Refusing to slow down, Bryant scored the last touchdown of the night with 3:10 minutes left to complete the scoring at 35-3. The Clinton defense held off South Lenior and gave the Horses the win.
Leaders for Clinton were: Rushin: Bryant had 10 carries for 173 yards;Spencer Jacobs had 7 carries for 93 yards; Silas Herring had 6 carries for 73 yard; and Tykearion Stevens had 10 carries for 56 yards.
Passing: Greg Smith had 2 for 5 for 29 yards, and 1 touchdown pass.
Defensively: Owen Hunt had 10 tackles; Blake Ellis had 10 tackles; Jacob Smith had 8 tackles; Demontio Bryant had 6 tackles;and T.J. Boone had 6 tackles.
Receivin: Bryant had 1 carry for 4 yards; Silas Herring had 1 carry for 25 yards.
