The Sampson County Department of Social Services will begin taking applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program on December 3, 2012, and will take applications through March 31, 2013, or until funding is exhausted. Applications will be taken Monday through Friday at the Sampson County Department of Social Services located at 360 County Complex Road, Suite 100, Clinton, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Applications will also be taken for one day each from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the following Sampson County Department of Aging Nutrition Sites.
Dec. 4, 2012 - Garland Senior Center
Dec. 5, 2012 - Butler Court Center
Dec. 6, 2012 - Roseboro Nutrition Site
There is no automatic eligibility; all interested households must make an application. Priority will be given to households containing a disabled person that is also receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services, or to a household in which a member is age 60 and older. Only these priority type households that meet all other eligibility requirements will be eligible from Dec. 3, 2012 through Jan. 31, 2013, or until funding is exhausted. Any household may be potentially eligible from Feb. 1, 2013 through March 31, 2013, or until funding is exhausted.
Funding is limited, and all potentially eligible households may not be approved. At a minimum, applicants should have a form of identification and the name of the household’s heating vendor and the account number when applying.
