Clinton’s varsity girls took on the Hobbton Wildcats Monday night, defending their home turn and getting a decisive win 67-42. .

Begininning the first quarter off with their star players, the Horses soon find their strengths and used them against the Wildcats. The Lady Dark Horses quickly took control of the game and maintained a lead throughout the first half.

Coming off of the court at the end of the first quarter, Clinton would have 21 points to the Wildcats’ 9. Running the second string players onto the court, Coach Chris Owens tested different plays with different players in order take a strong lead into the half.

With three quarters ahead of them, the Horses would still have a lead in the second quarter of the night, with a score of 36-22. With Lexus Simpson on the ball, the Horses would slam through the net with each and every point. Though the Wildcats would step their game up, bringing their score closer to Clinton’s, the Dark Horses would stay ahead with continuous 2-pointers.

After the half, Clinton worked to maintain its lead, battling head to head with Hobbton, and often taking it to the visitors at the net. Courtney Pearsall and Simpson would teamed often to keep raising Clinton’s score.

With seven minutes left on the night, Clinton played well on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, raising their score up to 67.

The Lady Dark Horses will travel to Wallace Rose Hill Friday for a 4 p.m. game against the Bulldogs.
